Vitsolc is a proud spin-off of ICFO – The Institute of Photonic Sciences, a prestigious research institute in the metropolitan area of Barcelona.  As one of the world’s premier centers for research in which photonics play a decisive role, ICFO’s labs have produced breakthroughs that serve as an inspiration for forward thinking technological innovations.  Vitsolc was launched to convert high potential scientific advances into tangible PV technologies.

ICFO hosts 500 people, organized in 26 research groups that focus on basic and applied themes relevant to medicine, advanced imaging, nanotechnologies, environmental sensors, quantum technologies, and information technologies.  To date, it has created 11 spin-off companies.
