Vitsolc's vision

Food vs energy?

One might think that solar panels are more suitable on rooftops rather than for solar farms, taking up fertile farm land. The news is that, with Vitsolc green agriculture technology, farming and electrical power production finally become compatible.

So, why not leveraging the same surface for farming both plants and solar energy? Vitsolc’s transparent technology can be integrated into the glass roof of greenhouses to capture a specific part of the sunlight irradiation to produce electricity, and let pass that which is beneficial for the photosynthesis. Also, for plants cultivated in regions with high insolation, our solar cells can be tuned for an optimal light management and setting the residual illumination to the ideal value.

Thanks to this technology, greenhouses’ plant growth will be fostered while the roofs will produce energy at the same time.

Boost Agriculture production with Solar Energy generation

  • Natural resources

Climate change has reduced the availability of natural resources, and unlimited consumption growth requires water and energy in increasingly problematic amounts.

  • Irrigation

A large part of the irrigation water is wasted due to evaporation.

  • Global warming

Global warming and its fluctuations are affecting crops and accelerating desertification. A control in sunlight intensity and humidity levels is needed.

  • Solution: transparent solar cells

The use of transparent cells in greenhouses add modulation and filtering possibilities for light and humidity control, and at the same time harvest energy.

  • Possible to integrate

Using transparent cells, solar energy harvesting does not need to compete with plantation ground and territory. With the replacement of the existent and new greenhouses' roofs, the two can be combined.
